Cookie and Reece

Meet Cookie and Reece!  My grand dogs if you will :)  They belong to my son, Scot. This is a picture of them in Nov 2009.  They were suppose to be beagles. Turned out they are big dogs.. maybe a Rot-Shepard mix??  Not sure, but they are very sweet and I love them. They play great together.  I'll post a more recent picture of them too.:)

Lakeview Polar Bear Plunge - Chicago Jan 29, 2011

I had the opportunity to go to the Lakeview Polar Bear Plunge which took place on Saturday January 29 in downtown Chicago at the lakefront next to the Drake Hotel. This is just north of Navy Pier. It was about 30 degree's for the high that day. Of course we were down there with the photo club people early. I do not know what kind of people take part in this crazy event , but I can assure you that they all seemed to have a blast!  I was freezing myself.. and can't begin to image what it felt like stripping down next to nothing and then running like a banshee out of hell right into Lake Michigan, ice and all!!  They are brave!! I mean, it wasn't just young people.. they were all ages, young and old alike! Some even dove right in!But the one that made me laugh the most was in a 'G' string with an Elvis wig on. lol  Anyway, it was a lot of fun!  Crazy!!

The paramedics were on hand JUST IN CASE.

Chicago Blizzard 2011

Well the blizzard of 2011 did not disappoint! It was a wopper! We ended up in my area with just about 2 feet but had drifts much deeper than that all around us.  These pictures were taken while it was still coming down and blowing hard. Took these at 8 am Feb 2.  Still managed to get a few pretty shots:) And the sun did come out later that day :))

Well it finally came and went!!  This was taken at 8am that morning and it wasn't over yet. Still blowing snow!!

We got just about 2 feet.

Had to dig my front steps and door out!
